P02 - 1967 Porsche 912 - Under Restoration

The 912 is no longer the ‘Poor Man’s 911’.

The Porsche 912 for the longest time has been considered the little brother to the 911. Second fiddle in the air-cooled debate, the 912 was the stopgap between the 356 and 911. It has always been treated as the ‘poor-man’s 911’ due to the fact that the 912 retained the 356’s flat four, air-cooled engine where the 911 gained an extra two cylinders with the advent of the legendary flat six that Porsche is known for.

The 912 however, has come into its own in the last few years as people have started to appreciate these wonderful automobiles. Benefiting from an weight saving of approximately 90kg with around 60 of those kilo’s behind the rear axle, the car is an absolute joy to drive and handles incredibly thanks to its 45/55% weight distribution.

This is a 1967 912 and so is one of the more desirable, SWB vehicles. The car has been restored previously in its life to resemble to famous 1973 Carrera RS, sporting a Grand Prix White paint job with red Carrera script and accents, widened wheel arches and the accompanying RS fibreglass bumpers. Thankfully, the original bumpers had been retained and came with the purchase of the car so that the new owner (with more sense and care towards originality) has the ability to commission us to reinstate the vehicle’s original, slender silhouette. Genuine Porsche rear guards have been used and the car is returning to its special order colour for 1967, Lemon Yellow.

This exquisite restoration is currently still a work in progress. Please stay tuned for more updates as the car is returned to us for re-assembly. If you want to learn more, please enquire for more information so we can figure out how we can help you.
