P01 - 1976 Porsche 3.0L Carrera Targa

The perfect 911 beach cruiser.

The 3.0L Carrera model is a particularly rare model of 911. Made in only 1976 and 1977, the car is an often forgotten footnote when it comes to collectible 911’s. Coming after the widespread success of the 1973 Carrera RS’s mythical 2.7L engine that transitioned into the ‘74 Carrera models, the 13hp deficit of the new engine was regarded as a move backwards on Porsche’s behalf at the time, probably leading to the short production period. This number value is almost irrelevant when it comes to the road as the 3.0L can certainly hold its own and with one of the nicest exhaust notes, the visceral experience of driving a Carrera 3.0 is up there with the best.

This particular example is a beautiful Minerva Blue over Cinnamon Leatherette Interior/Dress MacKenzie Tartan interior, Targa. The car was subject to a total restoration with a bare metal re-spray and complete re-trim back to factory specification. It is a stunning example of the model and is a real ‘head-turner’ especially in the colour combination.

This car was also fortunate enough to be invited to the prestigious 2021, AXA Sydney Harbour Concours D’Elegance where it was fortunate enough to win Best in Class amongst some other beautiful examples of the marque.
