LR04 - 1957 Land Rover Series 1 88” - Under Restoration

The car that built the Snowy's

This example of a 1957 Land Rover Series 1 88” is a survivor. A beautifully preserved piece of Australian history, this vehicle was supposedly owned by Utah Construction Company (sub-contractors for the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Authority) and was believed to have worked on the build of Jindabyne Dam during the 1960’s. Subsequently, it was stationed at the BP Service Station in Jindabyne where it served through the 1970’s and 1980’s as the roadside assistance/rescue vehicle, regularly jumpstarting and towing vehicles (many years it’s junior) out of snow drifts after careening off the Alpine Way.

Patterson, as this Land Rover is affectionately known, will undergo a complete mechanical restoration so that it can serve as the Artefact Motor Co. shop truck. A exquisitely patinated vehicle, Patterson will retain its battered body work to represent its storied past. It will also be outfitted with the intent of using it as a touring vehicle to experience this wide country like the explorers of yesteryear did.

Please enquire for more information, we would be more than happy to answer any questions regarding creating a vehicle like this for you.
